Dr. Chenxiang “Charlie” Song is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Sports Management Program at UWF’s Department of Administration and Law. Song’s research has covered many aspects of sports, including lessons learned from the buildup and aftermath of the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing, China, where he was a senior consultant for the municipal government. Song researched strategic policies for developing Beijing’s sports market and advised the government’s management group on operations of the sports venues after the Olympics concluded. Related research examined perceptions of college students in Beijing toward media coverage of the Olympic games and economic aspects of the event. Song’s research has been published by several refereed journals, including International Journal of Sports Communication, Journal of Business Issues, Invest Beijing, and International Sports Journal. In addition, he co-authored a book, “Badminton Everyone” and provided chapters to other books on sports. Song earned a Ed.D. in Sports Management Administration from Texas A&M University, where he wrote a dissertation on “The Job Satisfaction and Characteristics of Commercial Sport Managerial Personnel.” Song joined UWF’s faculty in 2005. He teaches undergraduate courses and coordinates the sports management program.
