Dr. Sarah A Tominack

Dr. Tominack earned her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi with the goal of becoming a post-secondary educator. During this time Dr. Tominack worked on understanding phytoplankton ecology in low-inflow estuaries, and the physical and chemical factors associated with Karenia brevis red tides, as well as curating and validating quality datasets from non-traditional sources. Throughout her education, Dr. Tominack developed a passion for teaching others how to master new techniques, equipment, and idea. She has translated this into her teaching philosophy that all students in the biological sciences should receive hands-on training early and often. At the University of West Florida, Dr. Tominack’s main focus is developing course content for and teaching Biology I and Biology II labs. Dr Tominack is also passionate about mentoring students outside of the classroom, serving as the Faculty Mentor for the UWF Botanical Society, as a member of graduate student thesis committees, and as a mentor for the OUR Explorers Program.
