Ms. Marzia E Ransom

Marzia Ransom is an Italian artist who works and lives in Pensacola, Florida. She earned her MFA at MassArt Boston in 2010.

Marzia’s areas of specialization in her art practice include large-scale "epic" oil paintings and wet-process photography. The artist investigates the feminine and its contextualization and dissection in history, religion, mythology, and literature. Process-driven and detail-oriented, Marzia is in constant pursuit of the multifaceted figurative approach while striving to deliver a conceptualization of forms within a conceptual framework.

Additionally, Marzia’s research focuses on early Medieval reliquaries, from "body parts" to portable altars. Marzia examines the impact of these devotional objects, their craftsmanship, and their unique placement in art history. Her concern is with the visual and conceptual loss of meaning, the disintegration of the Medieval sublime, and the erosion of the psychological effects of these objects.
