Bio & Expertise
Dr. Julie Ann Stuart Williams, a Professor in the Department of Business Administration, has conducted research on bulk recycling planning, returns processing, rehabilitation patient attendance factors, and methods to improve business student learning. Over the past several years at UWF, she led a collaboration with faculty in the College of Business, the Writing Lab, and Career Services, to analyze the relationship between student business writing over multiple courses and student use of university-provided writing support services. The findings support engaging students in repeated practice of business writing and were published in Journal of Education for Business. In 2017, she was awarded the University Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award.
She has mentored undergraduate and graduate students, completed the UWF Office of Undergraduate Research Faculty Mentor Workshop and co-authored papers with mentees in prestigious journals that include European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, Business and Professional Communication Quarterly, and elsewhere. She currently serves on the editorial board of INFORMS Transactions on Education and as 2nd Vice Chair of the INFORMS Committee on Teaching and Learning. She has served as the faculty advisor of the UWF Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society since 2013. This year the UWF Beta Gamma Sigma chapter was recognized as a Highest Honors chapter.
Williams has a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. She has received the E. W. Hopkins Faculty Development Award and two Dyson Awards for Excellence in Research from the College of Business.
