Bio & Expertise

Dr. Jake Bush is passionate about advancing nursing education through innovative teaching methods and supporting others in discovering effective mental health coping strategies. He teaches at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. His scholarship centers on the development of innovative pedagogies, as well as the study of resilience and integrative mental health approaches.

He has presented at national and international conferences, published in peer-reviewed journals, and co-authored the open-access textbook Mental Health is a Verb. A three-time alumnus of the University of West Florida, he holds degrees in Nursing and Psychology. He earned a PhD in Nursing from the University of Central Florida and holds the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential. He is a member of the Upsilon Kappa Sigma Chapter of Sigma and the Emerald Coast chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). He is currently pursuing a post-master’s Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certificate at the University of South Alabama.

In his free time, he enjoys reading, traveling, kayaking, and biking along the Blackwater River Trail.
