Abstract

In the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), delirium is a common and serious condition characterized by an acute disturbance in attention, awareness, and cognition. It is prevalent in many ICU patients and can significantly impact recovery, leading to longer hospital stays, increased healthcare costs, and long-term cognitive impairment. Treating and managing ICU delirium can be particularly challenging due to the lack of consistently effective therapies. The incidence of delirium in ICU patients varies widely, ranging from 20% to 90% (Omaira & Maria, 2024). While pharmacological treatments have been traditionally utilized, there is growing evidence supporting the use of non-pharmacological interventions in preventing and managing ICU delirium.
