Abstract
Human trafficking is a relevant and growing concern for healthcare professionals. Trauma-informed care is a relatively newer concept and there is limited information available, but studies are leaning towards the positive impact it has for victims post victimization. Retraumatization occurs when a victim who has PTSD is exposed to a triggering event. A trauma-informed approach recognizes the impact of trauma throughout the life of a patient, recognizes signs and symptoms of trauma, and responds appropriately while focusing on minimizing retraumatization (Tiller et. al. 2020).
