Despite assessment tools such as the Braden Scale or mobility assessments, patient pressure injuries remain a significant risk for hospitalized patients. The national cost of hospital acquired pressure injuries range from $3.3 billion to $11 billion. It is estimated 1 to 3 million people in the United States acquire pressure injuries each year. Statistics: 5% to 15% of hospitalized patients develop pressure injuries.
