Abstract

One in three people that die in the hospital have sepsis. Sepsis can be caught with Early Warning Scores (EWS) and Modified EWSs (MEWS), used interchangeably. With continuous non-invasive monitoring (CoNIM), declines in patient condition can be caught and treated before they progress to sepsis. A delay in care causes an increase in the length of stay (LOS), number of transfers to higher care, and overall mortality rate of patients.
