Serving with Compassion: Free Healthcare for Our Community
Abstract
Introduction: Our Lady of Angels St. Joseph’s Medical Clinic (SJC) is a nonprofit organization located in Pensacola, Florida, providing free healthcare to the uninsured in Escambia County. The identified need was a lack of publicity about the clinic. Community clinics have been shown to improve access to care, increase patient engagement, and help address social determinants of health, leading to improved health outcomes and reduced health disparities for the uninsured.
Aims: The purpose of this project was to increase public knowledge about the services provided and common donation needs at SJC. The aim was to increase publicity for SJC by streamlining the website, designing an official logo, and creating business cards by March 2026.
Methods: The group collaborated with the clinic director and Green Central Solutions (volunteer website provider) to provide the following deliverables: (1) Online monetary and supply donation list; (2) Official logo; and (3) Business cards in English and Spanish.
Results: The group distributed the cards to nine different community sites (e.g., food banks, churches) in Escambia County. During the community visits, education was provided about the goals of the project and the clinic’s mission. Feedback was positive from the community partner with staff expressing their sincere gratitude for the support of their mission.
Conclusion: With the support of this organization, individuals who cannot afford health care are granted access to a safe and trusted source of medical services. The hope is that this project will help increase awareness and support for St. Joseph's clinic.
