Abstract

Ventilator associated pneumonia is a complication of being on mechanical ventilation for more than 48 hours. VAP increases hospital costs, length of patient stay, and the risk for patient mortality. The research shows that elevating the head of the bed to 30 to 45° is effective for decreasing the incidence of Ventilator associated pneumonia.
