Abstract

In patients with type 2 diabetes, proper education is crucial to maintaining health and decreasing complications. Diabetic foot ulcers are common and very serious complications that arise because of lack of foot care. This lack of care is oftentimes caused by lack of education. Diabetic foot ulcers are the leading cause of lower-limb amputations, which increase mortality rates (Fisher-Bradshaw, 2023). The goal of this review of literature is to help prove that proper education can prevent diabetic foot ulcers and decrease the incidence of amputations caused by foot ulcer.
