Mental health awareness has been gaining more popularity in the healthcare field. Diagnostic overshadowing is seen often, this misattribution of symptoms negatively impacts the patient-provider relationship and clinical outcomes. Research has shown that patients who have been diagnosed with a mental illness will die on average at least a decade earlier than those who do not have a mental illness. Our project sheds light on the importance of treating mental health patients without bias and understanding the severity of their disease process.
