Kangaroo care is placing a neonate on the mother’s bare chest horizontally and in the prone position. The diapered infant’s back is covered with a blanket. Preterm infants are at a higher risk for morbidity and mortality. Breast milk has protective qualities that prevent diarrhea, respiratory infections, ear infections, asthma, and sudden infant death syndrome.
