Abstract
Introduction: Capstone Adaptive Learning & Therapy Centers, Inc. Nobles Group Home supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities by promoting independence and overall wellness. A gap was identified: residents had limited access to personalized weekend social and recreational activities. Evidence supports group-based activities, peer support, and digital tools as effective interventions to reduce loneliness. Aims: The purpose of this project was to develop and implement a diverse range of enrichment activities individualized to the interests and abilities of the group home residents. The aim was to develop and implement four (4) structured weekend enrichment activities to increase monthly social participation among Nobles’ group home residents by July 19, 2025. Methods: The team delivered four structured weekend activities: Saturn Saturday, Passport to the World, Colorful Connections, and Feel the Fun. Canva and Google Docs were used to create inclusive materials that prioritized health literacy, simple language, and step-by-step instructions. Results: The project impacted all seven residents of the Nobles Group Home through the implementation of four weekend enrichment activities. Residents demonstrated increased engagement, participation, and enjoyment during each session. Verbal feedback from the group home coordinator highlighted a noticeable improvement in weekend morale. Conclusion: Social engagement is needed for for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reduce loneliness. This project provided structured, interest-based activities that promoted connection and inclusion. The group’s goal was to help reduce social isolation and enhance meaningful interaction to support overall emotional well-being and improve the quality of life for the residents.
