Case presentation: An 18-year-old male presented to the pediatric primary care office with a chief complaint of 2 circular rashes on his right lower leg and 1 circular rash on his right foot for 3 days. The patient complained of the rash becoming painful after working the previous evening at a fast food restaurant and was worse at his clinic appointment. He described the pain as “sore and aching,” which he rated as 3 out of 10 in severity. He denied nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fevers, chills, sweats, numbness, malaise, headache, joint pain, drainage, swelling, or itching. He was otherwise healthy with no hospitalizations, surgeries, or daily medications. He did report a camping trip 3 weeks earlier in southern Missouri.
