Abstract

health care providers KAP pediatric supplementation vitamin D Health Care Pediatrics
Health care providers are critical in preventing pediatric vitamin D deficiency; however, effectiveness depends on providers’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding vitamin D supplementation. An international systematic review was conducted using the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology, evaluating 5 studies. Health care providers demonstrated positive attitudes and moderate to high knowledge regarding vitamin D supplementation. Significant gaps and variations were identified in initiation and supplementation among partially breastfed infants and in dosing for older children. Inconsistent implementation and inadequate supplementation in older pediatric populations highlight the need for targeted provider education and validated assessments of knowledge, attitudes, and practices to improve supplementation practices.
