Health Administration Educator Competency Model

Abstract
This study aimed to identify the competencies necessary to effectively educate undergraduate and graduate students in health administration. The researchers identified key health administration educator competencies based on a comprehensive literature review in health profession–related higher education fields, such as nursing, medicine, and health sciences. A Delphi technique using multiple rounds of anonymous surveys achieved consensus among a panel of experts. A Likert-type scale survey collected faculty members' perceived importance of various competencies, generating a final list of 73 competencies based on participant feedback. A cluster analysis was performed to group the competencies into conceptually similar categories. Finally, researchers consolidated the competencies into a concise, coherent competency model organized into six competency domains and 34 individual competencies. The findings led to the development of a health administration educator competency model that may be used for faculty self-assessment, reflection, and professional development planning, as well as to inform health administration doctoral student education and health administration faculty hiring and promotion decisions.
