A Global economic crisis, the likes of which happens once in a century, is shaking the economic foundations of developed countries all over the world. Developed countries have gone through big losses in financial and other sectors of the economy. However, the crisis has affected developing countries as well. These countries could use this crisis, to adopt a long term strategy that will better position them in the new global economic framework. This crisis is far from over at the time of writing of this text. It will have big consequences on the openness of the markets, protectionism, making domestic markets even stronger, and restructuring of the American economy through development of new industries, namely green or renewable energy sector. Keeping in mind the growth of this sector, developing countries, such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, have a chance to ad apt and try and attract foreign investors in those fields (renewable energy), which can kick start economic development and the opening of opportunities for long term economic growth.
