Abstract

Excerpt: Much of the research related to the field of Educational Technology focuses on the application of new technologies in traditional educational settings, including K12 schools and higher education. These studies, while valuable, overlook an additional, important, and growing area of practice related to Educational Technology; business, industry and other organizational settings. Globalization and rapid changes in technology have had a tremendous impact on the way we do business, in all businesses, small and large, across all industries. Simultaneously, the increased mobility of today’s workforce has led to more rapid turnover in organizations, as new employees come and go, often taking with them critical knowledge, skills and abilities. These changes are fueling an increasing demand for current research and best practices related to organizational training and performance improvement. The Association for Educational Communications and Technology’s Division of Organizational Training and Performance is uniquely positioned to fill this need.
