Abstract
A study was conducted to help managers of trucking companies understand the needs and desires of their current drivers in the hope that this knowledge would lead to greater retention of qualified drivers. Canonical Correlation Analysis was used to examine whether a group of predictor variables which constitute 6 determinants of Extrinsic Satisfaction do exert a significant influence on measures of extrinsic satisfaction. This technique allows researchers to test for the effects of a set of predictor variables upon a multidimensional measure of extrinsic satisfaction. Results indicate that multiple factors are important in determining extrinsic satisfaction. No one factor was identified to fully explain its complexities. The factors and the individual variables within factors appear to vary in terms of importance.
