Abstract

The current study examined the various predictors of workaholism across two countries, Thailand (N = 329) and the United States (U.S.; N = 325). Perfectionism emerged as the single best predictor of workaholism scores in both cultures. For the U.S. participants, negative affect was a significant predictor of workaholism. Within the Thai sample, significant predictors of workaholism included positive affect and leisure boredom scores. Implications for organizational interventions are discussed and recommendations for future research are suggested.
