This collection of poetry centers on moments of memory and location to explore the relevance of genealogy in understanding multiethnic American identity. The poems in this collection interrogate notions of fate and chance by examining the long-lasting significance of seemingly trivial, unrelated events of the past that when woven together, form the fabric of the present. Merging incomplete familial anecdotes and artifacts with imagined genealogical history, this collection explores the distinctly American desire to understand one's origins through travel. What results is a journey of the Self from America to Europe and back again as the persona attempts to reconcile the two disparate sociocultural groups that are unified through her.
