Abstract
Epigenetics is the modifications of DNA that do not change the sequence of the nucleotides in the DNA, like methylation or phosphorylation. Epigenetic changes of DNA often result from environmental factors, such as pollution, malnutrition, or exercising. As a result of these modifications, a change in the gene expression can occur, which can cause diseases (i.e. cancer or autoimmune) or reduce obesity and diabetes. The microbiome is a general term to refer to the genes of all the microorganisms, or microbes, in a community, such as the gut in the human body. Microbes are important for the general heath of organisms. Studies have shown taking probiotics could change gut microbiome which is correlated with health improvement.
