In the précis that follows I will attempt to reveal Merleau-Ponty’s attempt to arrive at a more adequate understanding of the relationship between the mind and the body. I will attempt this exposition by following a number of his major works chronologically, with one exception. I will begin with a radio interview that Merleau-Ponty gave near the end of his life, in 1959. In this interview he provides a brief and useful overview of his philosophy and one of his stated main goals, to better understand the mind-body relationship. It therefore provides us with a useful starting point.
