Abstract

The topic of change in higher education, specifically the curriculum approval process, was investigated. Interviews were conducted with faculty and administrators at 4 Carnegie Colleges and Universities I institutions. From these interviews, within-case and cross-case study analyses were developed. Only minor changes to the approval process were documented as being implemented during the past 10 years although numerous faculty concerns were voiced. Although not impacting the approval process, several influences external to the university were identified that impacted the curriculum process.
