Abstract

This paper presents the development of a TeleHealth system built using an open source web-based expert system framework called Tohu. The expert system works by providing individualized diet and health recommendations to users based on each user's responses to a simple auto-reporting questionnaire. A comparison is given between the development and features of this system and similar systems. A description of the system development illustrates how a complex web-based expert system can be easily constructed using open source tools such as JBoss Drools and Tohu. Following a depiction of how the system can be used, the paper concludes with a discussion of opportunities for future work.
