The integrated evaluation structure proposed in this chapter addresses the misalignment between training-based evaluation models and performance improvement as well as the over-reliance on the timetable prescribed by the formative, summative, and confirmative terminology. The integrated evaluation structure is very closely related to the full-scope evaluation model. Integrated evaluation requires individual consideration of each of the five primary steps in the human performance technology (HPT) model: performance analysis, cause analysis, intervention selection and design, implementation and change, and evaluation. The chapter presents a simple matrix that can be used to plan an evaluation based on the integrated evaluation structure. It looks at each step in the HPT model, examining the related activities to identify processes, products, and impacts associated with the individual steps. The identification of these components drives the development of the integrated evaluation, aiding in the development of evaluation questions, standards, measures and analysis, and reporting activities.
