Abstract

(Poster Abstract) A web tutorial is a cost-effective method for the education and training of people in the manufacturing industry as well as in other environments. An Internet-based tutorial can be used by many users simultaneously at different locations. In addition, it allows each student to browse and progress through the material in his/her own order preference and pace. We describe a web tutorial for the domain of polymer composite molding, a field of importance to the chemical engineering, material science, and mechanics communities. The intended users include industry professionals, university students, and others interested in learning about the domain of polymer composite molding. Several navigation techniques are provided to allow users to access the information in the most suitable manner. Users have the option of navigating directly to the specific information required or reading through the tutorial sequentially in a step-by-step manner. To make the learning process more effective, the tutorial utilizes various media forms to present the information to the user.
